Throughout the centuries, this language has been the bearer and creator of wonderful spiritual values, world-famous works of art and literature. The extraordinary richness of the vocabulary, the plasticity of grammatical forms and meanings, the variety of stylistic means, all this is characteristic of the English language. Every word in the language has its own meaning. All words in morphology are divided into groups (classes), which are called parts of speech. In this work I will tell you about the adjective1. Each item has its own feature that allows it to stand out from the rest. There are special words for the names of these signs in the language. This is the adjective. The adjective helps us distinguish an object from several similar ones. For example, you want juice, and you ask your mother to buy you juice "Mom, buy juice, please." - "What?". - "Apple". So you can select one object from several similar ones. An adjective is an independent part of speech that denotes a sign of an object. The general grammatical meaning of the adjective is a sign of the subject. Morphological features of the adjective - gender, case, number. It varies by gender, number and case. Naming signs of objects, adjectives explain nouns. Therefore, the morphological features of the adjective help it to be more closely associated with nouns, that is, they are likened to them in the form of gender, number and case. An adjective can fit any noun. Syntactic signs of adjectives - in a sentence, adjectives are attributions or predicates and are consistent with nouns in gender, number and case. The purpose of my essay is to talk about the meaning of an independent part of speech - the name of the adjective. This topic is quite relevant for this time and will talk about how closely related parts of speech in English are, using an example - an adjective. Also, I will delve deeper into the study of: lexical and grammatical categories of adjectives, degrees of comparison of adjectives, spelling of suffixes and endings of adjectives, spelling of complex adjectives, morphological analysis of adjectives in speech.
