In fact, the strategic importance of India in the world has been growing due to 
following factors:
• 
Demographic growth in India may make it as the country with the highest 
population in the world;
• 
Since May 1998 India has become a nuclear power. India also looks to 
Uranium-rich Kazakhstan to feed its growing nuclear industry;
• 
Indian influence in the regional processes is becoming significant, especially 
in the security sphere;
• 
The economic strengths of India and its active involvement in the global 
economic and political order have raised its strategic interests which include Central Asia 
as well;
• 
Technical prowess of India, especially in software;
• 
Centuries-old historical economic and other links with Central Asia are getting 
invigorated in the new geopolitical landscape [3].
As Kazakh president Nursultan Nazarbayev in his geopolitical analysis of Eurasia 
wrote[4], it is noticeable on geographical map there is a consecutive vertical row of countries 
of Eurasia from Russia in the north to India in the south (Central Asian countries, Iran, 
Pakistan) that does not yet link either with the east or with the west. He would call this 
continuous belt of countries situated along the meridian of the center 
of Eurasia the “belt of 
anticipation”. Despite all the differences among these countries they constitute a relatively 
solid group from the point of view of potential resources and possibilities of influencing not 
only the balance of power in Asia or Eurasia but even the geopolitical balance of the world.
Terrorism; radical Islam and extremism are common challenges in both the regions 
and similarities of these problems require a collaborative approach and a common response.
The problems of demography and migration are an urgent problem of our time, 
especially in the countries of South Asia, where 25 % of the world’s population lives.
