Mountaineering, hiking and rock-climbing

Uzbekistan Mountains are for active forms of tourism such as mountaineering and rock climbing. Most well known for its ease of access from Tashkent is a highlands Chimgan located in the mountain massive of dominant Greater Chimgan peak (3,309 m) of the Chatkal range at an altitude of 1,620 m. This place serves as a commencement for many routes of hiking, climbing, horse riding, mountain skiing and hang-gliding.

Architectural and historical sights

Samarkand with its Registan, Bibi-Khanym Mosque, Gur-Emir and Shah-i-Zinda, Bukhara with its Po-i-Kalyan Complex, Ark citadel, Samanid Mausoleum and Lyabi Khauz Ensemble, and of course Khiva with its intact inner city Ichan Kala, mosques, madrasahs, minarets, walls and gates are sites of tourism.

My favourite season
There are four seasons in a year: winter, spring, summer and autumn. All seasons are good in their own way. Winter, for example, is full of celebrations, presents and snow. Spring is the time of nature awakening and flower blooming. Autumn can be rainy and yet beautiful, full of multi-coloured leaves.
However, my favourite season is summer. I choose summer not only because my birthday is in June, but also because it's the time of holidays. Summer is the season when the sun shines brightly, the sky is rarely cloudy and the water in the sea becomes warm enough to swim. Even if it becomes too hot, you can always go for a walk in the shady woods. I also like summer because there are many berries, fruit and vegetables, not to mention numerous flowers on the fields. Among them roses, dandelions, daisies, and other flowers. Sometimes the air in summer becomes stuffy, but occasional thunderstorms bring relief. After the thunderstorms the air becomes remarkably fresh and very often we can see the rainbow in the sky.
Summer is also the time when I and my family go on holiday to the seaside. It's a wonderful time, when we can have a rest from the intense academic year and relax. I think all children love summer because of long school holidays and I'm no exception. I also enjoy my free time, playing with my friends, watching TV, and doing other fun activities. Nevertheless, I don't forget to do some useful reading from time to time.

  • It's a universal truth that every season is beautiful in its own way.Isn't it wonderful to tramp down the country lanes on a frosty winter day.Everything is white with snow and it crunches under your feet. The rimesparkles on the branches and the icicles like precious diamonds hang from theroofs of the houses. It's a merry time for both children and grownups. Theycan go skating and skiing, sledging and having a fight with snowballs or makinga snowman. I suppose, it is very pleasant while the frost lasts, an unpleasanttime comes when the thaw begins. Cars and buses go along streets splashing the mud an slush on thepassers-by. Everyone is grumbling and scolding the weather. But soon a warmwind blows up heavy grey clouds and the sun shines brightly in the cloudlessazure sky. In a few months summer will come.

  • Summer is the most suitable season for holidays andvacations. People enjoy bright summer days if they are in the countryor at theseaside. They go bathing and swimming, and fishing and boating. Butit'sunbearable to stay in town on such hot and glaring days. Everybodydroops andshambles and tries to hide in the shade. Then after a good rest autumnand harvest time comes. The corn hasturned golden and the farmer will reap it and put it in his barn. Theair isfresh and full of the autumn fragrance of ripe apples, plums and peachesand ofcourse, coloured asters, chrysanthemums. But the weather is sochangeable inautumn, people have to wear raincoats and umbrellas if they don't wantto getwet through. The dead leaves cover the ground like a thick motleycarpet, theroads are slippery and wet, there are lots of puddles in the streets andagaineveryone is looking forward to frosty winter days and much snowout-of-doors. It's rather difficult to say what season is the best one, however dulland nasty or charming and marvellous the weather may be.

  • As to me, I always look forward to summer. I am never tired of its longsunny days, warm rains with thunderstorms and hail, the buzz ofmosquitoes andmidges. I like to spend my summer holidays at the seaside. In mychildhood I used to enjoy playing on the beach, making castles andforts in the sands. When one becomes older one begins to notice themurmur ofthe sea and it's so beautiful to look at the moon's way on the water inthedarkness. The air is fresh and it's easy to breathe. I like to lie inthe sun gettingas brown, paddle in the water or get splashed by the waves. But it'snot everyyear that you can go to the seaside. Sometimes I spend my holidays inthecountry. Most of my time I spend in the woods gathering strawberriesandflowers or at the river bathing and swimming in it. Very often, I helpmygranny in the vegetable garden weeding it or gathering tomatoes, cucumbers orraddish. I like to walk in the rain or just sit indoors watching theraindropsfalling down from the green leaves and blades of the grass onto theground. When summer is over, I always feel sorry, because it was too short andwas tooquick to pass.
