Chapter 2. Practical part of the course paper. Methods and techniques for successful reading lesson
2.1 Reading teaching techniques Technique is a procedure, used to accomplish a specific activity or task. Every teacher’s technique is unique. The usage of techniques used to help students achieve the learning outcomes, while activities are different ways of implementing these methods. The most successful techniques are below: Ш visualization – is a very simply put, the ability to create the mental images based on the words we hear or the text we read. Visualization includes the visual aids, such as photos, videos, audio clips, songs, diagrams and charts; Ш cooperative learning – is an instructional strategy, when a small group of students work on the given task collaboratively. The task might be simple as a solving the quiz or writing a small story; Ш student-centered inquiry – is a method that focuses on a student’s role in the learning process. It can be varied from exploring the material to sharing thoughts and ideas; Ш information gap – is a useful activity in which one person has the information that the other lacks. They must use the target language and communication by reading for sharing that information; Ш simulations – are more elaborate than the role play. In simulation it is very easy to provide a somewhat realistic environment for language practice. Oral language is one of the most important skill that student can master – both for social and academic purposes. Learners use the speech throughout the day to process and deliver instructions, information, ask questions and interact with peers. Each type of interaction gives to student the opportunity to practice language. During the learning process teacher can make a small conversation for spark interaction. Students may not use the complete oral syntax in informal speech, but teacher can encourage them to do so when they are in classroom. It can help to build oral language skills and gives students practice in a skill for mastering written and spoken language. The next useful technique in teaching reading classes is engaging the eye contact. Maintaining the eye contact will help learners to trigger the audience’s attention and adjust the foreign language. Encouraging students to verbally summarize or discuss the information they heard is the next step to make the student speak in foreign language. They might ask for clarification when they do not understand something. During the qualification practical work at the school No62 in Uchtepa district, Tashkent, there were used different types of reading methods and techniques for enhancing students’ reading skills. The majority of students felt unsatisfaction during their speech in English classes. The main cause of that is the feeling of having the underdeveloped vocabulary and grammar knowledge. By this case I have tried to correct their feelings and involve the reading techniques into the lesson. The best method of reading teaching methods is the communicative (speech) situation. Students have to make a small conversation between them. There can also be real-life situations, such as role plays between buyer and seller, etc. Download 124.55 Kb. Do'stlaringiz bilan baham: |
