Reflection and assessment (checking up the homework and consolidating the previous lesson):
Are you ready for the lesson? OK, let’s begin our lesson. I want to begin today’s lesson checking your homework and asking about the previous lesson. What was your homework?
Step3. Procedure of the lesson
Activity 1 Spelling Dictation.
Objective: to practise spelling;
Ask PP to work in pairs. One spells words from a Word box in Unit 7 Lesson 5 which is in Classwork and Homework page, the other writes. Then they take turns. PP should choose 3-4 words from the Word box forspelling.
Activity 2 Listen to the ABC song, repeat and sing.
Objective: to learn the ABC song;
Explain that PP will learn the English alphabet. Play the tape and ask PP to listen to the ABC song attentively. You can play the tape twice. Then ask PP to repeat in chorus after each line. Then ask them to read the song in chorus.

Step4 Consolidation
Activity 3 Look at the picture and read the alphabet.
Objective: to practise ABC;
Ask PP to look at the caterpillar picture and read the alphabet on the caterpillar in chorus. Translate the word Caterpillar.

Activity 4 Look, read and do.
Objective: to practise writing words;
PP will revise the alphabet by writing as many words as they know beginning with a certain letter. They can work in small groups.
