Activity 7: Revising Instructions

  1. Refer to the KISSSS strategy in the Mentee Workbook

  2. Divide Mentees into 5 groups.

  3. Give each group one instruction from Resource: Revising Instructions.

  4. Mentees revise the instructions to make them clearer. They can simplify the language, use gestures, write the instructions on the board, or ask ICQs to make the instructions clearer.

  5. Have each group share their revised instructions.

Option 1:
Role Play

  1. Divide students into groups of 4.

  2. One Mentee is the teacher. Three (3) Mentees are students.

  3. The group chooses one activity to demonstrate (board race, running dictation, reading activity, etc.)

  4. The group decides how they will give instructions (write on the board, model, use gestures, etc.) and ask ICQs.

  5. The group creates a role play to show their activity and how they will give instructions.

  6. The Mentees in the audience give feedback on the instructions. Was the KISSSS strategy followed?
