Activity 10: Video 1. Adapting Textbook Activities

  1. Think-Pair-Write

    1. Divide Mentees into pairs. Give them 1 minute to think about these questions:

      1. What does “adapting textbook activities” mean?

      2. Why do you need to adapt textbook activities in your context?

    2. Give Mentees 3 minutes to discuss their ideas and write them down.

  2. Show the video.

  3. After the video, divide Mentees into their same pairs. Ask them to compare their TPW answers to the video. Are they the same? Are they different?



Transition: Now that we have learned about how to adapt textbook activities. Our next topic is tips for adapting teaching materials in general from GMU.

Activity 11: Video 2. Tips for Adapting Teaching Materials

  1. Divide Mentees into 3 groups. Different from yesterday’s lesson planning group.

  2. Group 1 will listen for Tip 1, Group 2 will listen for Tip 2, and Group 3 will listen for Tip 3. Write the following questions on the board for note taking.

  3. Groups will answer these questions about their tip:

    1. What is the tip?

    2. What is one example of how to use the tip?



Transition: We’ve learned about adapting teaching materials in the video. Our next activity is practicing together how to make these adaptations.
