The Noun. Grammatical categories of Number, Case
CONCLUSION
The set of grammatical categories includes, among other things, tense, aspect, mood, case. They link grammar and semantics and play an important role in the parsing of sentences and the semantic analysis of sentences and sentences. Their study leads to general questions such as the origin of grammatical categories, the evolution of language, language and cognition, metaphor and first language acquisition. Meaning in English and in any other language begins with a noun. A noun that works syntactically as a subject is always present, although it may be explicit, indirect through pronouns, or implicit. Nouns are presented on this page according to the following simplified structure: 1. Categories of nouns 2. Noun number 3. Noun gender 4. Noun case Nouns are the main elements of a sentence, while articles, adjectives, pronouns, and numerals are secondary elements of a sentence. Learning the cluster of nouns makes it easier to understand several very important grammatical concepts: 1. grammatical category "number" 2. grammatical category "gender" 3. grammatical category "case" The category of noun gender is expressed in English through two oppositions: the first involves the division of nouns into human and non-human. Non-human nouns are neuter. The lower division of nouns into masculine and feminine nouns. A distinctive feature of the English gender is its semantic character, while the peculiarity of the gender in Russian is its formal feature. The category of number is compressed by contrasting the plural form of the noun with the singular form. The problem is simple with countable nouns, where the plural is formed by taking an odd "s" to the singular form of the noun. But the category of number has some peculiarities. There are also, in addition to common nouns singular and plural, the so-called singleia tantum and plumalia tantum, expressing in the general case the ability of a particular noun to be used only in the singular or only in the plural. There are also quite a few cases where the same noun can be used in the common noun singular and/or plural and in the absolute singular and/or absolute plural. Thus, we see that the English categories of case, number and gender are closely related. That is why they must be considered together in order to obtain the most effective results in the course of the analysis of linguistic material. Download 82.34 Kb. Do'stlaringiz bilan baham: |
