Content introduction chapter I. The importance of academic writing

The actuality of qualification paper is devoted to the study of phraseological units with proper names , their types and usage in Modern English.
The aim of the given qualification paper to give the vast description of the phraseological units with proper names, to describe the contextual meaning of phraseological units with proper names according the opinions of prominent scholars concerning the problem.
The aim require solving the following tasks:
-to distinguish the subject matter of phraseology;
-to study the classification of phraseological units given by prominent linguists;
-to to study the proper nouns and their types
-Classify the phraseological units with proper names.
During the research I referred to the books of famous scientists as Shansky. N.M, Vinogradov,Koonin,Smernitsky,Aprasan and many others. A special point of interest is presented by the approach to the problem of phraseology suggested by a famous philologist N. Amosova. In “Essentials of English Phraseology”.A major stimulus to intensive studies of phraseology in linguistics was V. Vinogradov’s research carried out in the history of the Russian vocabulary. The classification suggested by the scholar has been widely used in research. Investigation of English phraseology was initiated by A. Koonin, whose dictionary of English idioms has much valuable information on the theory of my paper.
The object of qualification paper is Phraseology and classification of phraseological units and analyses of proper names in idioms.The term “phraseological units” is not clearly defined. Phraseological units or idioms (set expressions, set-phrases, fixed word-groups) represent the most picturesque colourful and expressive part of the language’s vocabulary. Phraseological units are characterized by a double sense. The current meanings of constituent words build up a certain picture, but the actual meaning of the whole unit has a little or nothing to do with that picture and creates a new image. So, a dark horse – is not a horse but a person about whom no one knows anything definite and so one is not sure what can be expected from him.
