After your arrival in Pisa
STEP #1: Residence Permit (Permesso di soggiorno)
In compliance
with the Italian Law, non-E.U. citizens holding a type-D VISA must apply for a Residence Permit
(Permesso di Soggiorno)
within eight working days from their arrival in Italy. The Permesso
di Soggiorno is
an authorization issued by the Italian government that allows you to legally stay in Italy.
To obtain it, you must
submit:
●
a health insurance coverage*
●
proof that you are provided with sufficient means of subsistence of no less than € 467,65 for each month
of the academic year (euro 6.079,45 yearly), to be proved through your bank statement or a grant
declaration.
●
Italian Tax Code (Codice Fiscale**).
*Regarding health insurance coverage, we suggest you register to the Italian National Public Health System (SSN
- Servizio Sanitario Nazionale). For more information, please see:

**Codice Fiscale: As written above, Italian Tax Code can be requested at the Italian Embassy or Consulate in your
country of residence before your departure (highly suggested). If you do not have it, when you arrive in Italy you
can apply for it upon arrival. For all details about the
Italian Tax Code, please check:
