because of their differences.In 1796, Jefferson‘s supporters talked him into 
running for President. This election would be the first 
time two political parties would square off.Jefferson‘s friend John 
Adams 
would be his opponent. Adams won the election, Jefferson received 
the second amount of votes, making him the Vice President. This put 
Jefferson in a very difficult position, Jefferson and Adams were of different 
political parties. 
The declaration of independence is the most important document in 
America history.It was written by Thomas Jefferson,a landowner and lawyer 
from Virginia.[7:29]. 
The Declaration‘s familiar opening passage echoes Locke‘s social-
contract theory of government:We hold these truths to be self-evident, that 
all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with 
certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit 
of Happiness. — That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted 
among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, — 
That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these 
ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new 
Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its 
powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety 
and Happiness.[6:61] 
Conclusion: 
Thomas Jefferson was the most versatile of our founding 
fathers,because of the education he received. Education allowed Jefferson 
to be the author of The Declaration of Independence, a statesman and 
politician.He was known throughout the world as a man with a brilliant mind. 
His strong support of education for everyone is the reason we have public 
education. Jefferson knew education was the key for a strong America.
