The topicality of the given course paper is about the novel Nineteen Eighty-Four, a highly celebrated work of fiction and perhaps the most referenced novel in the dystopian genre in literature, it paints a tale of a society under the yoke of an oppressive, totalitarian government.
The aim of the paper is to explain the new historicist theory as a tool that has been applied to decipher the historical sheets of the novel and explain George Orwell’s careful usage of characters and settings as elements presenting the author’s attitude towards totalitarianism.
The tasks of the paper are the following:

The object of the research is to investigate the extent in which the novel derives from the political conditions of the first half of the twentieth century and the manner in which it consequently foreshadows a dark future that has to some degree become a reality, setting the novel as a timeless piece of literary work presenting the logical consequences for totalitarian ideals.
The subject of the research is to conduct rеsеаrch аbоut оnе of George Orwell’s famous novel.
The theoretical value of the research paper is for those willing to take up their future carrier in the field of teaching English literature as valuable reference to the subject matter of literature, English for Specific Purposes, in teaching language.
The practical value of this work is that the suggested materials can be applied into FL classes and revealed types of motivation can be used in teaching English literature.
