The term “culture” encompasses several aspects of a country: the people, their thoughts, their beliefs, their language, their traditions, etc. Purpose of Study: Proving the importance of culture in the foreign language classes. A dry language course can teach the learners to say what is correct and acceptable only. But the learners also need to know what is appropriate for the target society and what is not. This can only be achieved if they learn about the culture, the traditions and the people, while learning their language. Methods: Questionnaire to teachers and students. In order to be able to decide on which aspects of the culture the learners mostly need to learn about, two questionnaires have been given out to the learners as well as to their teachers to gather their points of view. Findings and Results: Pie charts showing the results of the questionnaires According to these responses, the most important aspects of the target culture, in this case, the Egyptian culture, that the non-native learners of the target language (Egyptian Arabic) need to learn were defined and put into order of importance. Conclusions and Recommendations: Suggesting ways of integrating culture into the foreign language syllabus. One teaching unit as a guideline for course designers as well as for teachers was designed to suggest how these cultural aspects could be introduced into the language class. The term culture that is gaining more and more importance nowadays encompasses in fact several aspects of a country; it refers to the people, their thoughts, their beliefs, their language, their traditions, etc. According to Rehbein (1985) [1] culture refers to “everyday life”, a definition that is consistent with the old American definition of culture as “way of life”. If the learner of a language does not have enough information about the target culture, he will fall into the cultural gap, and face cultural conflicts. That is why, linguists and teachers try to help learners of a foreign language cross the cultural gap, avoid cultural conflicts and achieve intercultural communication. In my research, I am trying to talk about the pedagogical implications that are important for helping the learners of a foreign language reach cultural continuity. The study of foreign languages in modern society is becoming an inseparable component of the professional training of specialists very different profile and the quality of their language training in many ways depends on the successful solution of issues of professional growth and expansion of contacts with foreign partners. Therefore, the school is called upon to provide a certain level knowledge of a foreign language, which could allow him to continue study during the period of university and postgraduate education, as well as on one's own. The success of training largely depends on the method of work. teacher of a foreign language, from his ability to use various modern methods in the context of solving specific educational tasks. This tutorial outlines the main content of the course "Methods of teaching foreign languages" for students of the Institute mathematics and mechanics. N.I. Lobachevsky in the direction "Pedagogical education (with two training profiles)". The purpose of the manual: to acquaint students with the basic provisions modern methods of teaching foreign languages; show connection methodology with other sciences that are basic for the methodology and in in many respects determining its modern content and status among others general educational and scientific disciplines; form students the ability to evaluate existing concepts of teaching foreign languages; to acquaint students with the techniques, methods, means learning and develop the ability to effectively and creatively apply them to practice; give a holistic view of the nature and specifics professional activities of a foreign language teacher. As a result of studying the methodology course, students should know: current trends in the development of methodology; content and structure foreign language teaching systems; interaction features methods with basic sciences for it; various methods of formation and development of foreign language communication skills; qualifying requirements for a foreign language teacher. Should be able to: use modern technologies in teaching foreign languages; practically apply the techniques and methods of teaching a foreign language; prepare teaching materials for classes, taking into account the stage and profile learning; analyze and evaluate individual psychological characteristics of students and the level of their knowledge of a foreign language; analyze their own pedagogical activities and activities colleagues; organize independent work using various methods of self-education; plan and conduct classes and extracurricular activities events in a foreign language. The knowledge and skills acquired in the classroom, students have opportunity to implement in the course of teaching practice. Download 137.5 Kb. Do'stlaringiz bilan baham: |
