Fashion and design Subject English for specific purposes Teacher Fozilkarimova Laziza Level Intermediate Date 15/12/22 OBJECTIVES: 1: To understand fashion trend.. 2: Introduction to fashion life cycle. 3: Explain five main stages of fashion life cycle (introduction, rise, peak, decline and obsolescence). 4: To understand fashion cycle life span. MOTIVATION: When people see new style and trend, they often want to imitate. To do so, they seek out the latest fashion to make themselves look better. In this way fashion constantly change over time. Fashion cycle reflects these changes. CONTENT WARM-UP The lesson starts with warm-up questions related to clothes. Students then name clothing items in pictures. 5 minutes EXPLANATION In this phase, the teacher explains the topic using different materials. 15 minutes READING Who designed that.Students read a brief story of fashion evolution and answer the questions that follow. 10 minutes GRAMMAR PRESENT PERFECT SIMPLE vs PRESENT PERFECT CONTINUOUS. These two tenses are compared and contrasted in terms of their structure and use. The students practice using the tenses by choosing correct alternatives and filling in the gaps. Later on, they find and correct tense mistakes in sentences. 15 minutes VOCABULARY COMBINING ADJECTIVES/VERBS AND PREPOSITIONS. Students learn which prepositions to use in combination with adjectives/verbs in order to talk about fashion (impressed by, adventurous with, etc.) they use them to fill in the blanks in sentences about fashion. To practice new vocabulary, the students pick a card and answer questions containing one of the phrases mentioned earlier. 15 minutes SPEAKING ACTIVITIES In this phase, they talk about fashion. They share whether they have enough clothes and how often they buy new clothes and how being well-dressed makes them feel. Then, they move on to another task that includes discussion questions about fashion. First, they go over the attitude of different generations to it, how often trends repeat, etc. The activity brings up current trends, fashion rules and how fashion today is different from the past. After that, to express their views on fashion even more, students try finishing a sentence (“Fashion is not only…”) with two ideas. 10 minutes QUESTIONS: 1:What do you understand by fashion trend? 2:What is the meaning of fashion life cycle? 3:What is fashion acceptance? 4:What are the characteristics of rise stage of fashion life cycle? 5: What is the peak stage of fashion life cycle? 6: what is continuing acceptance? SUMMERY: The fashion cycle is a natural cycle, by which a fashion trend is introduced, rises to mainstream,Popularity, declines, and finally gets rejected in the obsolescence stage. Here is a breakdown of the five stages in a standard fashion cycle. ASSIGNMENT: 1. Explain fashion life cycle in term of fashion trend and importance of fashion life cycle. 2.
