problems. Furthermore, the scoring of students' Mathematical Communication Skills
(MCS) is based on the students' effectiveness, accuracy, in using mathematical
languages such as models, symbols, signs and / or representations to explain
operations, concepts, and processes. Students can communicate mathematical
thinking to another, either orally or in writing, using representations. Representation
can explain a mathematical concept or problem so that others will understand it
(Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development, 2020).
Mathematical literacy was defined by Lutzer (2005) as "capable of
communicating and understanding ideas written in mathematics language”.
Thompson and Chappell (2007) proposed among the different methods of
mathematics interaction that verbal communication (e.g. talking and listening) might
be the "most natural form" for students to communicate their evolving ideas.
Scientific literature reviews have shown that a significant amount of studies support
the diverse benefits of 24 math dialogs and classroom discussions (e.g. Tyminski et
al., 2014; Walshaw & Anthony, 2008) Specifically, by consistently discussing and
listening to one another Students may: 1) gain more skill and ease in linking
mathematical ideas (Marks Krpan, 2013), 2) co-create and design learning
environments that promote mathematical inquiries (Diez-Palomar & Olive, 2015).
Mathematics communication is a key component of studying mathematics
(Boaler, 2015; Ontario Ministry of Education,2005). It is also possible to
communicate mathematical ideas by written means, by various forms. Journals, logs
and daily diaries are some of the students ' most frequently used methods of
recording their mathematical procedures, solutions and reflections (Thompson &
Chappell, 2007). Kosko (2010) define communication in mathematics as a variable
for the proper implementation of classroom manipulations.
The integration of software in mathematics lessons requires communication
