2. In this lesson these methods and approaches are used:
Grammar-translation: With this method, pupils learn primarily by translating to and from the target language. With the help of this method, pupils learn the new words by heart;
Audio-lingual: For the activity 1, pupils do the task implementing this approach. Pupils should develop this approach to do listening activities. This approach to learning is similar to the Direct Method, in that the lesson takes place entirely in the target language.
Direct method: This method helps pupils to think directly in the foreign language for discussion in the activity 5. In this method, all teaching is done in the target language, grammar is taught inductively, there is a focus on speaking and listening, and only useful ‘everyday' language is taught.
3. The activities which make the lesson more interesting and productive:
After 5 minutes of review, students will play Taboo. Without showing the cards to their team, one student will try to explain the vocabulary word and the other teammates will try to guess. After a few minutes, ask students to switch roles. Play until each student has a chance to explain the vocabulary. After each student has had a chance to be the explainer, pit groups against each other for an all class competition. The group that gets the most correct wins!
