Formal language usage and its main features
Formal words may usually used to people in an official situation or humans you can not know well (e.g director of schools, personnel manager, etc).
They can used in a formal style with polite, impersonal tone.
You can speak a formal words to communicate with person who is official
Examples
A formal language must include:
a) A formal greeting (e.g. dear sir/madam- when you don’t know the person’s name ; dear ms green – when you know the person’s name );
Main features of formal language
B) an entering in which you do lecture opening phrases and remember your reason(s) for speaking e.g I am addressing you for the position of….)
c) a main body in which you do lecture about the special subject(s)
Of your speech in detail, starting a new speech for each theme;
d) Conclusion in which you do lecture with you closing phrases:
e.G my adddressing is consists of these…..;
e) Formal ending ( I am proud of talking with you )
In formal ending also there is difference between the people whom you know very well or you don’t know very well
Tenses in the formal language
present simple tense –to be
I am eighteen – year –old
To have not to have got , because to have is more formal than to have got :
e.G I have a c1 in the korean language
present perfect tense
( I have been working as a builder for the last three years.)
present simple tense as a general tense
Example: I promise myself to be good and responsible .
In the closing part of your speech
I will be available for working in september
I enclose references from my last three employers.
I look forward to listening from you .
past simple tense
e.G I left school in 2011
I worked for clinic for five years.
present perfect to talk about recent work / studies
I have just finished simple school .
