General facts about the USA 
The United States has a rich and interesting culture. There are many known evidences about this. But 
there are things that few people know. I have collected 15 little-known but very interesting facts about 
the United States of America “Around the World”. 
1. The design of the US flag in its current form (1958 with stars) was created by a 17-year-old 
student. This was Robert Heaf’s homework. 
2. In 1956, in God we trust became the official motto of the United States. It probably originated 
during the Civil War and is now used on all American banknotes. 
3. The seven rays on the crown of the Statue of Liberty represent the seven continents. Each of

6. Despite the fact that 74% of Americans believe in God, according to statistics, 42% believe in the

worldwide. 
7. There is a unique monument of four corners in the USA (Four Corners Monument). This 
monument is the only place where four American states intersect at the same time: Arizona, 
New Mexico, Utah and Colorado. The first marker in the form of a concrete platform was 
installed in 1912, followed by a bronze disc in 1931, and in 1992 a modern four-cornered 
monument was installed. 
8. The United States does not have an official state language. Proposals to legitimize the status of 
English, which is spoken by 80 percent of Americans, have been made several times. But such a 
decision has never been made at the federal level. 
9. From 1776 to 1967, interracial marriage was prohibited in the United States. 
10. The US has some pretty ridiculous laws. For example, in Ohio you can’t buy cereal on Sundays, in 
New Orleans, Louisiana you can’t tie alligators to a fire hydrant, in New York you can’t carry ice 
cream in your pocket, and in Arizona you’ll be fined. If you put the donkey to sleep in the
