The article focuses on three aspects o f students ’ reading literacy on the basis o f the 
international PIRLS program developed w ith the aim o f increasing students' reading 
literacy, im proving their developm ent and helping them acquire reading skills, 
evaluating their students ' reading abilities, evaluating four types o f comprehension 
process, studying reading objectives and com prehension processes, The PIRLS study 
highlights the importance o f assessing the tw o types o f learning that students use more 
than others outside the classroom and school and the introduction o f this into the 
national education system today.

A t the"conference on the developm ent o f the 
system o f public education o f the Republic o f 
Uzbekistan until 2030", tasks such as " gradual 
increase o f the quality content o f teachers in 
secondary education institutions, expansion o f 
the n etw ork o f specialized secondary education 
institutions that are taught by deepening 
disciplines, preparation o f n ew generations o f 
didactic materials and multimedia products, 
gradual application o f the principles.
This is due to the fact that in the 
developm ent o f professional com petence o f 
future teachers, it is necessary to clarify the 
theoretical foundations o f teaching subjects in 
interrelation, im prove its content, information 
and m ethodological provision.
A number o f scientific researches are 
carried out in higher educational institutions o f 
the Republic dedicated to im proving the quality 
o f education by researching m ethodological, 
psychological, 
pedagogical, 
m ethodological 
problem s o f training o f pedagogical personnel 
and finding effective solutions.
Currently, 
Progress 
in 
International 
Reading and Literacy Study (PIRLS) is planned
to be introduced to assess the level o f reading 
and understanding o f the text o f prim ary 4th 
grade students in our country [4].
PIRLS (international research that defines 
the level o f Reading and understanding o f text] 
is d eveloped to help students around the w orld 
im prove their reading literacy, im prove their 
progress and acquire reading skills 
it has been published and served on it and has 
been conducting regular research on the 
assessment o f reading ability o f its students[3].
PIRLS provides countries w ith a unique 
opportunity to have international com parative 
inform ation about h ow w ell students w ill study 
after four years o f prim ary education.
Reading literacy for PIRLS is defined as the 
ability to understand and use w ritten language 
forms that society requires or is valued by an 
individual. 
Young 
learners 
can 
com pose 
m eaning from different texts. Th ey study for 
study, for participation in the communities o f 
students in school and in everyday life.
