Compared to state of the art glass ionomer cements available on the market, the cement composition described in the present text has not only a sufficient flexural strength but also an improved compressive strength without affecting other important parameters like working and setting time. The kit of parts described in the present text comprises or consists of two parts, a powder part and a liquid part. The kit of parts may in addition contain an instruction of use. The instruction of use typically contains hints how to store the kit of parts, mix the components of the kit of parts and/or apply and use the composition obtained by mixing the components to the surface of a tooth. [0075] The cement composition described in the present text contains an acid-reactive filler. The nature and structure of the acid-reactive filler is not particularly limited unless the desired result cannot be achieved. The acid-reactive filler has to be able to undergo a glass-ionomer reaction. [0076] According to one embodiment, the acid-reactive filler can be characterized by at least one or more or all of the following parameters: - Mean particle size: 3.5 to 10 mm; - (d10/ mm): from 0.5 mm to 3 mm; (d50/ mm): from 3 mm to 7 mm; (d90/mm): from 6 mm to 15 mm. [0077] If the mean particle size of the acid-reactive filler is above the range outlined above, the consistency of the composition obtained when mixing the compositions contained in the parts of the kit of parts described in the present text will not be adequate and the desired mechanical properties might be negatively affected.
