expresses action or a state of being and is necessary to make a statement. An
action verb
tells what someone or something does. Action verbs can express either
physical or mental action. An action verb that is followed
by a word that answers the
question

transitive verb

intransitive verb

bakes very well. (intransitive)
Some verbs can be either transitive or intransitive, depending on their use.

Exercise 1
Draw two lines under each action verb. Write T in the blank if the verb is transitive
and I if it is intransitive.
