What is Grammatical structure?

  • This structure, also known as syntax or syntactic structure, determines the grammatical function or meaning of a sentence. Traditional grammar specifies four basic types of sentences: simple, compound, complex, and compound-complex.

What Are Examples Of Grammatical Structures?

Simple Sentence: The dog ran.

A compound sentence: The dog ran and ate popcorn.

A complex sentence follows the fact that the dog ate popcorn after running away.

A compound-complex sentence: After the dog ran, he ate popcorn and drank a big soda.

What Are The 5 Components Of Grammar?

  • A word order is used in English as an analytic language to determine the relationship between words.
  • The word punctuation is used in written English to indicate pauses, intonation, and stress words.
