The board has been focused on several initiatives this spring with priorities being main- taining our facilities and other assets, aligning our activities and the Bylaws, and enjoying the activi- ties our members come up with. You may have noticed there have been some changes to the lower level area (Down Under). The view has been opened up by relocating the Kayak storage and the bar and Z-Galley received a much needed restora- tion. As many of you know the Down Under is a great area for enjoying the beach area where bath- ing suits and sand is not a problem. Please grab a drink and lunch/snack from up stairs and take ad- vantage of this area with your friends and family this summer.
Over the past month the bylaws were reviewed to check their alignment with the way the club oper- ates as it has changed a bit over the years. It is im- portant to keep this document in synch with these changes so the Board has a guide to follow year over year. The recommended updates are in this issue of lagoon lines, page 7, for member review and comment as necessary. Final approval vote by the board will be held at least 30 days from now.
Enjoy the summer, be safe in your activities Mike Odom Commodore, GLYC The Vice’s Voice
June and hurricane season are now upon us. While it is imperative to take hurricane preparations seriously, it is also important to have some fun with it. With that in mind, Rhonda is working on a "Category 5" martini to open the season. Check it out Friday, June 2.
Chef Dodge's family-style Sunday sup- pers have been a real crowd-pleaser. These meals for 2, 4, 6, or more include salad, a main course not normally on our menu, and dessert! The more you order, the lower the per person cost. Orders for six or more get a bonus pizza. What a great deal. Service starts around 5-- earlier if it's a slow afternoon.
Preparations are under way for the Sun- day fish fry at the Bill Hargreaves Fishing Ro- deo. Rick Trevino has volunteered to man the fryer with Dean Hoffman and Kathy McCaffrey assisting. If you would like to help with this or any other aspect of the Rodeo, let Chuck Haskell or me know. .

Remember to sign all of your guests in! Florida liquor laws require members of private clubs to sign in and re- main with guests at all times. Failure to do this can result in the loss of our license. Also, we have changed our sign-in book. We ask that you list your name, GLYC number, your guests names and their email addresses. Maybe we can pick up a new member or two! Commodores Corner 2

Kayaking Fun
It's almost time for the GLYC paddlers to get out on the water and do some kayaking! We had a lot of fun last summer and hope to have a bigger group for our morning kayaking this year.
morning with our first outing on THURSDAY, JUNE 8th , leaving the Club at 8:00 am . We
can do short, medium or long routes; whatever you kayakers like! Just to let you know this is not hard core kayaking! Last year we were told that it looks like we are a social group who occasionally kayaks!
If you are interested please let me know so you can be included in our email list. You can reach me at
suebarner@gmail.com .

I hope that everyone had a great Mother’s Day celebration. The weather is great and it is time to get on the water in your boat and enjoy the beach and deck at the club. The Shipwreck Party was a big success and thanks to everyone who worked to make it happen. The board approved the repairs to the electrical pedestals and the installation of 19 pilings and repairs to damaged finger piers. The Shipwreck Party proved that the plan to use the downstairs area can be successful. In an effort to make improvements, we have started renovating the kitchen and have plans to paint the inside walls of the downstairs area. I am asking for volunteers to help paint the kitchen and downstairs. I would like to have this completed before the fishing rodeo. I am scheduling a work day for June 10 th to clean up and get ready for the fishing rodeo. It will be from 9 until 2, with hot dogs served for lunch. We still have some wet slips available on both sides of the dock and now have some more spaces for smaller boats in dry slips. As a reminder, please do not park in the loading and unloading are at the ramp. Please keep your dog on a tight leash at all times and clean up after them. Let’s continue to enjoy our club and fellowship together.

Kids Corner
Parents and grandparents, the Kids Corner has been a disaster the last few days.
Remember, it was started as a convenience for you to keep your little ones occupied while you enjoy your GLYC experience. It is not the job of the staff to pick up toys after your children. It is your responsibility to en- sure the area is neat before you leave. Please reinforce the lessons the children learned in pre-school and kindergarten about picking up after themselves or we will have to discontinue this Club amenity .

Congratulations, Winners! **IMPORTANT NOTICE** A discussion was held by the Board concerning the use of electronic ciga- rettes in the Club. It was decided that we would continue the policy of all smoking, including “vaping,” be conducted outside the Club house. CRAPPY CRAFTER CORNER
Let me go back to Cheri’s Annual Fantabulous Murder Mystery on the 22nd of April. Again an amazing job. They just keep getting better every year. Oh, and Georgia was there, too.
Our Biloxi trip on the 25th was another exciting time. Our Bingo winners were Sandra Law ($13.00), Jim Ward twice ( $14.00 each). Stephanie won $58.00 on the 50/50. Rumor has it Meg was a BIG winner at the Casino Again, Mike and Marti aced it with the bartending. Thanks everybody for making it another fun trip. Monte wasn’t our host this time due to a prior engagement, but Debbie stepped in and did a great job. Miss you Georgia
Our May 9th gathering was pine cone flowers. Shari brought enough pine cones for everybody and several of us brought paints and hot glue. We just didn’t take into consideration how hard it was to cut the pine cones. With snips, a small saw, and a little help from Joe Cook, we were able to cut enough for Jeanne Williams to make a flower arrangement. Hopefully, she’ll bring it for show and tell for our June gathering. A small group of 8 then went to Paisano Italian on Navy for lunch. Oh, rumor has it Georgia is coming back soon. By the time this goes to print she WILL be back. Hopefully!!
Our June gathering on the 13th is gonna be making dress shirt aprons. Cheri will be emailing details. Then the big decision for lunch.
Our June birthday girls are Emma on the 22nd, Betty Zelius on the 24th, and Norma Jolly on the 25th. See y’all round the Club, Kathy
