Tasht kuftan (to play a basin) – is a Provins custom, when the moon is eclipsed, they to play basin and it is also called to play copper (mis kuftan). Zuloliy says:
Mezanam bar sina meguyam ki oh,
Tasht mekubam, ki bigriftast moh.
(I beat my chest and say oh, I will play the basin like eclipsing the moon).
Sadoi in yake bar dast mezad,
Bari mohi girifta tast mezad.
(Someone's voice echoed in the desert, like playing the basin for the eclipsed moon) [3; 150].
It can be said that this custom - which existed until recently and was used as an artistic expression in many works, including the phrase «as if shavings fell from the roof» was caused by this incident, Tajik word tasht – toghora (basin) in the Uzbek language, it was later pronounced and interpreted in the form of tarasha.
As we have seen, despite the fact that this work was written in Indian in the Persian-Tajik language, it provided information about the customs of many peoples. Therefore, the words of ethnography in the work can be classified as Indian, Iranian, Viloyat (Provins) – Iranian, Khurasan, Movorounnahr and Turan traditions. Also, these ethnographies can be divided into wedding customs, mourning and death customs, rituals, spells, and customs of various fields and social groups. The following:
Wedding customs: turunj zadani arus bar domod (the custom of the bridegrooms of the region) [3; 61], domanchok (parents dedicate their children to each other from infansy) [98], hinobandon (the bride's henna ceremony before the wedding) [86], dandonranjish (the custom of giving a gift upon hearing the words of the bride) [106], divoliy (diwali holiday) [107], salomona (greetings) [132], jashni sharbatkhuron (the habit of drinking juice) [72], shirinikhuron – magniy (habit of magniy) [132];
mourning - customs with death: oina peshi nafas doshtan va bar nafas doshtan (situation of death), haloliy xostan, halvoi marg (holwa distributed during the mourning ceremony), alami murda (flag carried in front of the coffin), sar vo kardan (in mourning women let their hair down and cry ) [130], naxli tobut (customs), nuqli motam (a sweet sent to relatives after mourning), xun ba jabin molidan (the custom of smearing the blood of relatives on the face);
magic: doira kashidan (custom of Indian beggars) [3;97], xatti hisor [92], tosi chihilkalid [149], chashmband [78], raml kashidan [113], surmai az chashmho nihon gashtan va surmai xafo, surmai afsuni faybat [126], sangi yada [132] yada (magic stone) [219], foli gush [158], fusuni judoiy (separation sorcery) [160], qufli zabonbandi (tongue binding witchcraft) [165], lavhi tilsim (fortess book) [190];
Superstition: tasht kuftan (to play basin), charoghoni ruzi Isfand (Isfand is the Persian festival of lights, held on the third day of the month of Farwardin. This is the custom of the pagans) [77], xob ba charogh guftan (tell the dream to the lamp) [94], dard chidan [99], daraxti fozil (irim qilib latta boghlangan daraxt) [100], dar girebon andoxtan tiflero (adoption of a child) [98], ob bar oina rextan (pour water on the glass) [12], sol duzdidan (to hide one's age) 122], umri xud ba kase dodan (the custom of devoting one's life to someone) [155], muhrai gesband (wearing a bracelet on the wrist) [200], nom bargashtani bemor (change the patient's name) [205], vogir (superstation) [215];
