Conclusions and Proposals
Conclusions
▪ Sri Lanka must commit to putting the National Export Strategy into effect in its totality,
as well as simplifying and transparent regulatory structures.
▪ Some creative entrepreneurs have found new opportunities as a result of the current
scenario, and others have expanded their product lines.

▪ It's worth noting that many SMEs in rural areas are upbeat and optimistic about things
being back to normal soon. However, many people require coaching and counseling in
order to recover from their trauma.
▪ Due to a lack of understanding and/or inability to meet bank standards, the majority of
entrepreneurs have been unable to benefit from government relief programs. To get out
of their financial dilemma, the business owners are fighting alone.
▪ Lack of technological use in the day to day business activities is a weakness that affect
the efficiency of most of the businesses in rural areas
Proposals

▪ It is proposed that a solution be developed by implementing a plan in which the
government provides a guarantee for SMEs to obtain capital on the basis of feasibility
analysis.
▪ Several advances supporting health care were discovered during this time period. It is
proposed that officials in charge of industry, research, and technology, as well as allied
institutions, assist these innovators in improving their products, obtaining patent rights,
and commercializing eligible inventions.
Interest rates, collateral, procedures, and guarantee restrictions for SME financing must
be reduced at least during the pandemic period.
▪ For SMEs to function effectively, Sri Lanka needs expand bank networks to rural areas.
▪ It is proposed to the business owners to have a complete training program to first to
educate themselves and later to introduce a training procedure to their employees for
the better performance of their businesses.
▪ Most of the NGOs have not yet been able to win the trust of the public, specailly in rural
areas. It is proposed to have a broader comunication medium to go to the public and to
make awareness on how the NGOs operate and how the Business owners can benefit
from these organizations for a better future of their businesses.
