(M’07) was born in Cluj-Napoca, Romania, in 1977. He re- ceived the M.S. degree in electrical machines and drives field from Technical University of Cluj-Napoca (TUCN), Cluj-Napoca, Romania, in 2002, and the Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering from TUCN and Technological Univer- sity of Belfort-Montb´eliard (TUBM), Belfort, France, in 2005. From 2001 to 2003, and from 2004 to 2005, he was a Research Assistant at TUCN. From 2003 to 2004, he was with the Electrical Engineering Depart- ment, TUBM, where since 2003, he has been a Teaching-Research Assistant. His current research interests include design, control, and optimization of the electrical machines and drives. Abdesslem Djerdir received the B.S. degree in electrical engineering from National Institute of Electrical Engineering, Bejaia, Algeria, in 1993, and the Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering from the University of Franche Comte, Belfort, France, in 1999. Currently, he is an Associate Professor of electrical engineering in the Elec- tronic, Electrotechnical, and Systems Laboratory, Technological University of Belfort-Montb´eliard (UTBM), Belfort, France. His current research interests include modeling and design of electric vehicle systems (electric machines, en- ergy storage devices, and power converters). Dr. Djerdir is a member of the International Compumag Society. Ioan-Adrian Viorel (M’92) was born in Romania. He received the Gradua- tion degree in electrical engineering from Technical University of Cluj-Napoca (TUCN), Cluj-Napoca, Romania, in 1965, and the Ph.D. degree in electri- cal machines, drives, and apparatus from Technical University of Timisoara, Timisoara, Romania, in 1978. He was a Teaching Assistant from 1965 to 1972, an Assistant Professor from 1972 to 1980, and an Associate Professor from 1980 to 1990 at TUCN, where he has been a Professor since 1990. He was the first Head of the Elec- tric Machines Department from 1990 to 1992, the Scientific Secretary of the Technical University (TU) Senate from 1992 to 1996, and the Vice Dean of the Electrical Engineering Faculty, TUCN, from 2000 to 2004. He was a Fulbright Scholar at the University of Maryland, College Park, and a Visiting Profes- sor or Visiting Researcher at Rheinisch-Westf¨alischen Technischen Hochschule (RWTH), Aachen, Germany, Ecole Polytechnique F´ed´erale de (EPF) Lausanne, Lausanne, Switzerland, Ohio State University, Akron, Technical University of Berlin, Berlin, Germany, Technical University of Chemnitz, Chemnitz, Ger- many, Korean Electrotechnology Research Institute (KERI), Changwon, Korea, and Technical University of Budapest, Budapest, Hungary. He has published more than 200 scientific papers in journals and conference proceedings and 14 books and textbooks, three of which are in English. His current research interests include induction machine, synchronous machine, variable reluctance machines, transverse flux machines, and related topics such as computer-aided design (CAD) and magnetic field calculation in the domain of electrical ma- chines. Prof. Viorel was awarded the Teaching Merit Medal (second class) by the President of Romania in 2004. He is a member of the Editorial Boards of Elec- tromotion Journal. He was a steering committee member of some international conferences such as Electromotion 1995 and SIELMEC 1998. He is a Reviewer for journals and international conferences. Download 0.79 Mb.
