16- In order to achieve success, self-esteem is considered to be very
necessary.
What are some of the factors affecting self-esteem?
Use specific reasons to support your opinion.
People’s motivations, goals, inspirations, loves, and health are profoundly
affected by an important machine inside themselves called self-esteem. This
machine enables the person to keep going in life and answers the question
“Why am I here?” Self-Esteem can be called “the motivator.” It’s a drive to do
well, succeed in life, and represent the “natural selected” group of society that
will survive and reproduce.
Self-Esteem is influenced primarily by social activity with others. If a group of
friends wanted to do things and one of the boys kept bringing up ideas but
was always put down by his cohorts, it would bring down his self-esteem from
ever saying anything again. This would have a harmful effect on children and
their progression towards high goals in life. The lack of self-esteem in early
childhood could lead them towards a swamp of depression, lack of motivation,
and loneliness. Instead of achieving a job or extending their education, they
might be stuck in jail for drugs or robbery.
However, self-esteem is not completely based on appraisals by others. The
person might have a family background or successful jobs and high positions.
This might turn on the machine towards higher self-esteem. It is true that
experiences with others will increase or decrease self-esteem; however, the
importance of staying strong and believing in oneself will also contribute to a
higher self-esteem.
In conclusion, without self-esteem inside the person, the road would have
dead-ends, bumps, and other obstacles. And parents and individual
themselves must care about the self-esteem issue so that they will achieve
happiness and success in life.
