Well, it is common. There are many people who have a fear of speaking in English. But, there is nothing like it can’t be eliminated.


You can easily overcome your fear of speaking in English.

Don’t need big vocabulary, need a good approach

Do not assume that to speak well in English you would need plenty of words. Great vocabulary. No, you do not need it. Even with small vocabulary, you can dive straight into English conversations. What all you need is a bit of understanding of basic English and confidence.


What do you fear about?

What do you actually fear of? You need to know this. Experts believe that often anxiety about speaking in a foreign language like English boils down to what we call FEAR.


People who are poor at English fear that they will be negatively evaluated or at least, their language will be negatively evaluated.


Anxiety may affect your ability to perform well during your IELTS speaking test. You may find it difficult to deal with the situation in a normal way (You may find processing language in real time difficult for you).


Moreover, there will be added confusion for you to add new words and structure your sentences as per the grammar rules. This will completely shut down your brain. You will lose the ability to think smartly or speak more effectively.


So, the solution is this: you need to relax. Learn to relax in such situations.




Knowing more about your flaws

It is always good to work on areas that you are very poor at. Some people are not good at describing themselves. Some are poor at describing their friends. Some do not know what to say when they are asked about their job, aims, goals, studies, college, university, their local native place, etc.


Every situation is different. And for each and every different situation, there are a set of words, phrases, vocabulary that you should know. If you can manage to learn English as per the situations, it will be easy for you speak more correctly and with confidence too.


Learn to give better self-introduction. Learn to give information in English about your family, friends, college/university or your dreams, goals, work, etc (as this is your first hurdle in IELTS speaking test).

Don’t desire for perfection (Understand this, it is just the beginning)

Some candidates wrongly believe that they can learn English and become perfect at it in a month’s time. That may be possible for some geniuses or linguists but it can’t be possible for one and all. It is suggested that you shall focus only on improving your English and not on perfecting it to the academic or literary level.


Learn to speak well, speak grammatically. That is all. That should be your goal.
