9. As most people spend a major part of their adult life at work, job satisfaction is an important element of individual well-being.


What factors contribute to job satisfaction?How realistic is the expectation of job satisfaction for all workers?
Most adults allocate a significant proportion of their lives for their career. Therefore, Feeling satisfied with one's job plays an essential role in staying healthy and happy. While it is true that there are several factors contributing to job satisfaction, in my view, it is simply not realistic/practical for everyone to have this feeling.






The things that often lead to workers feeling satisfied are clear to see. A higher salary is one of them. This is because with more income come more comforts in life, examples of which are private cars, air-conditioners at home, and more visits to restaurants and entertainment facilities. Secondly, to be better pleased with their jobs, they should have meaningful relationships with their co-workers. Conflicts at work often cause dissatisfaction, whereas cooperation and comforting each other in difficult situations make people more likely to enjoy their workplace.




Thus, above-mentioned reasons could be said as significant in job satisfaction.


Nevertheless, it is not always practical to make everyone happy at work. The number-one reason is that companies cannot afford to pay huge salaries for all workers. For example, people working in lower positions usually get much smaller wages than those who are in top positions. These low-paid employees may not feel satisfied with their jobs even though they enjoy working there. Secondly, there will always be some people who only complain about their jobs, no matter how high salaries they receive or great working conditions companies organise. This dissatisfaction largely depends on their negative mindset, which is often impossible to change.






To sum up, despite such practical ways of improving job satisfaction as/such as increasing salaries and better colleague relationship at work, I am not convinced that all people will one day be satisfied with their work. 290 words, band 8.0+
