Introduction chapter I phraseological problems of translation

The subject matter of the qualification paper is translation problems of compound nouns with the structure “Man”, which is devoted to one of the interesting topics in lexicography and translation theory. The structural cohesion and integrity of a compound may depend upon unity of stress, solid or hyphenated spelling, semantic unity, unity of morphological and syntactic functioning or more often, upon the combined effect of several of these or similar phonetic, graphic, semantic, morphological or syntactic factors. The integrity of a compound is manifested in its indivisibility that is impossibility of inserting another word or word-group between its elements. Translation Studies is nowadays overwhelmed by a number of attempts to discard prescriptive standpoints and adopt new, descriptive directions. As a consequence, the research effort has been shifted from an investigation of things that should be done to an investigation of things that are considered in this paper. 
Actualityof the present qualification paper. The present work under the discussion attempts to study and work out necessary points on the translation of compounds. We decided to carry out such a task and the actuality is that this work covers every possible ways of translation of compound words and how they can be “carried” into TL. The procedure itself is not easy, that’s why taking into consideration its difficultness and complexity the paper lays out source-language and target-language-oriented translation.
Investigation of the problem.This problem was investigated by many scientists Thomas Hobbes, I. P. Pavlov, L. Bloomfield, H. Sweet, E. Sapir, John Lyons, Stephen Ullman, Gardener, A. Meillet, V.V. Vinagradov, A.I. Smirinitsky, O.S. Ahmanova, M.D. Stepanova and other scholars.
The aim of the qualification paper is to study thoroughly compound nouns with component “Man” in English and their comparison with Uzbek ones. The investigation is very significant by the view of translation point because the translation of compound nouns may cause some difficulty and to show some ways of solving the problems lies upon our shoulder.
