OPERATIONS UPDATE

Over the past fiscal year, several major developments took

place at the Global Fund for Women. These included the:

• establishment of an Investment Committee to assist the

Global Fund’s management in selecting a socially respon-

sible investment firm and in revising its investment policies.

• organization of a major outreach trip to the Middle East

and North Africa, including a meeting of the Board of

Directors in Cairo, Egypt.

• launch of an interactive component of the Global Fund’s

website to enable volunteers to organize Global Fund

house parties and other fundraising events.

• expansion and further development of the Global Fund

facilities and organizational infrastructure, particularly in

the area of human resource management.

• adaptation of the Activist-In-Residence position to allow

Lin Chew to reside in Hong Kong and provide the

Global Fund with on-the-ground information from

women’s groups in the tsunami-affected areas.

OPERATIONAL AND FINANCIAL HIGHLIGHTS

FINANCIAL HIGHLIGHTS*

In fiscal year 2004-2005, the Global Fund for Women’s

financial position was strengthened with a 37% growth in

its net assets from $15.1 million to $20.7 million. This

growth occurred both in the unrestricted and permanently

restricted net assets and was due, in large part, to the success

of the “Investing in Women Campaign.”

As a result, the Global Fund for Women experienced a

substantial growth in the amount of funds that it awarded to

international women’s rights organizations, increasing the

dollars awarded from $5.5 million in fiscal year 2003-2004

to nearly $7.4 million in fiscal year 2004-2005.This 35%

growth was due in large part to the awarding of approxi-

mately $1.7 million through the Board of Director’s desig-

nated “Now or Never Fund.”

The Global Fund for Women recorded more than

$17.4 million in Revenue and Support in the last fiscal year,

of which approximately $8 million was raised from the

“Investing in Women Campaign.” This substantial growth

in Revenue and Support over the previous fiscal year was

the result of increases in both institutional as well as indi-

vidual donor giving. The Global Fund for Women spent

79% of its total Expenditures for Program Services and 21%

for Fundraising and General Administration.

* The Global Fund for Women’s financial statements have been independ-

ently audited and received an unqualified audit opinion as to their fair pres-

entation in conformity with U.S. generally accepted accounting principles. A

complete set of audited financial statements is available upon request.
