1.The man identified the problem.
2.The woman will help the man make observations.
3.The woman determined the cause of the engine problem.
4. Listen again and complete the conversation.
Engineer 1: Hi Stanley. How does your new 1______________ look?
Engineer2: I'm having a 2___________ idling speed.
Engineer1: What have you done 3__________?
Engineer2: 4_________________The engine idles too fast.
Engineer1: That’s good start. What will you 5_________________?
Engineer2: I need to make some 6________________. Then I can make a better analysis of the problem.

Subject: Design Process Review
Hi everyone,
Next week, we are meeting with new clients about a product development. I want to give you a quick review of the design process.
First, we have to identify the problem. We must be aware of the design criteria. Additionally, we may need to consider other constraints.
Next, we'll generate some preliminary designs. We usually make sketches of these early possibilities. Not all of them will work. We have to narrow down the options to a few reasonable solutions.
This is when we conduct a feasibility study. We evaluate the possible solutions based on the design criteria, their functionality, and their cost.
Once we have selected the best options, we can assemble some detailed designs. A great way to do this is to construct functional models. Once we do this, we have to verify that each design meets all the criteria. If it doesn't, we'll revise it and start the process again.
Thanks,
Giselle Bowen
