Purpose of the work. 1 Familiarization with the principle of operation of the portable 
colorimeter YLD-200 model. 
2. Measuring the color indicators of colored papers and evaluating their color 
coverage. 
 
Portable colorimeter model YLD-200
 

 
1. Application 
YLD-200 Portable Precision Colorimeter is mainly used in color selection for 
clothes, interior design and decoration, color matching. The colorimeter is a CIE-
recognized instrument that meets the requirements of Chinese national standards. This 
device is portable, stable, and has the ability to measure the difference between 
different colors with high accuracy. The device is powered by four x 1.5 V alkaline 
batteries and an optional AC/DC power adapter. 
The value of 
△E and Lab for two different colors can be accurately measured 
and checked using a TFT monitor equipped with a display backlight. 
Three different light sources are used to analyze the test samples, as well as 
mathematical analysis and additional software. 
 
Tool is equipment 
The portable colorimeter model YLD-200 fully complies with the ISO 5-4 
standard and supports test conditions M0, M1, M2 and M3 as specified in the ISO 
13655 standard. The instrument can accurately achieve the ISO T, E, A, I state of 


density measurement, easy to use to measure various click parameters (such as: point, 
contact values, color error, etc.), and different color space to meet the different 
requirements of customers , uses the color difference formula and the color index. 
Theoretical part 
The portable colorimeter YLD-200 model is included in the computer system, 
the device is controlled by the computer during measurement. This computer system is 
designed to evaluate color parameters in the textile, light and paper industries. 
Portable colorimeter YLD-200 model has the ability to work in transmission and 
return light measurement modes with high accuracy. 
The purpose of this work is to test the portable colorimeter YLD-200 model 
spectrophotometer in evaluating the color indicators of printing products and to 
develop a method for evaluating the color coverage of "Vansan" paints. 
The figure below shows the structure of this system. 
Measurement of the transmission and return coefficient is carried out using the 
Spectra Magic program included in the kit. After starting the device, scales with the 
required diameters d1=4 mm d2=8 m or m d3=25.4 mm are installed on the sample 
holder. It is then calibrated using a white plate used as an absolute white surface, and 
then the spectrophotometer is used to measure the samples. Measurement sequence: 
1. Illumination: The radiation from the xenon lamp, which is a light source, 
illuminates the sample being measured and is distributed in a spherical sphere. 
2. Acceptance: 
a) rays reflected from the sample 
b) the distributed light flux inside the sphere is sent to the sensor through the 
optical system. 
3. Sensibility, using the optical fiber system, radiation is sent to the paper 
samples, and the rays returned from the samples are directed to the sensor. In this case, 
the distributed monochromatic rays are located in the range of 360 - 740 nm and are 
sent to the matrix of serial sensors. The stream of returned rays is sent to the processing 
analog chain and analyzed. The geometry of d/8 is adopted in the device and it 
complies with MKO No. 15, E1164, DIN 5033 Teil 7 and YAPS Z8722-1982 
standards. 
1. The rays returning from the inner surface of the sphere, which receives a 
xenon lamp as a light source, fall on the sample. 
2. Measurement and control of the rays returned from the sample is carried out 
through the optical system. Monochromatic rays with a wavelength in the range of 360 
nm to 740 nm are sent to the sample in series. The returned rays are directed to the 
sensor matrix through optical fibers and converted into proportional currents are 
received by the processing analog circuit. Figure 10.2 shows the system configuration.
