INTRODUCTION (Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) thesis abstract)
The purpose of the research is to develop the motivation of engineering
students to learn foreign languages.
Tasks of the research:
improvement of didactic support for the development of motivation to learn
foreign languages for future engineers in technical higher education institutions;
development of an organizational structure model for developing the motivation
of future engineers to learn foreign languages;
development of e-learning resources aimed at developing the motivation of
future engineers to learn foreign languages in technical higher education institutions;
clarifying the levels and criteria for evaluating the development of future
engineers' motivation to learn foreign languages
The object of the study is the process of development of motivation to learn
foreign languages in engineering students.
The subject of the research is forms of technology, pedagogical conditions and
opportunities for developing motivation to learn foreign languages in engineering
students.
Research methods. A set of methods and training aimed at ensuring appropriate
learning was used in the conduct of scientific research: theoretical (analytical-
synthetic,
comparative-comparison,
analogy),
diagnostic
(surveys,
testing,
observation, designed methods ), prognostic (expert assessment, generalization of
independent assessments), pedagogical experiment and mathematical methods
(statistical processing of data, graphical representation of results, etc.).
The scientific novelty of the research is as follows:
methodological and didactic support for the development of motivation to learn
foreign languages for future engineers in technical higher education institutions is
developed meaningfully on the basis of systematic, active, competent, linguistic and
cultural, integrative approaches and the principles of creativity, interactivity, variety;
the organizational structural model of developing the motivation of future
engineers to learn foreign languages has been improved by incorporating CDIO,
ADDIE educational technologies and interactive methods such as "experience
exchange", "rotation";
the content of the M-learning mobile application, aimed at developing the
motivation of future engineers to learn foreign languages in technical higher
education institutions, has been improved based on a motivational approach;
determined by the development of motivational, cognitive, functional criteria
and high, medium, low levels for assessing the development of future engineers'
motivation to learn foreign languages.
