Day of memory and honor (May, 9th)

In 1999 majestic Square of Memory has been opened in capital of Uzbekistan on 9th May and since then Day of memory and honor on May, 9th is celebrated. This holiday in independent Uzbekistan is celebrated in honor of memory of our compatriots which during centuries heroically, self-denyingly protected our native territory, its freedom and independence, a peace life of our people. Also this holiday is considered as a day of honoring human being, in this day people check up on their relatives and friends, particularly the elderly are honored and visited.


Day of independence (September, 1st)


In 1992, Independence Day was celebrated for the first time. The film Istiqlol (Independence) directed by Davron Salimov was shown in cinemas in Tashkent. President Islam Karimov delivered a speech at the evening event on Independence Square in the Uzbek capital.


Independence Day (Uzbek: O'zbekiston Respublikasi Mustaqilligi kuni) is an official national holiday in Uzbekistan, celebrated on the first of September.[1] fireworks, concerts, competitions, military parades, and wreath laying ceremonies are held in Tashkent during the independence day celebrations.

The main national holiday of the Republic of Uzbekistan is the Day Independence. This holiday is celebrated annually on the 1st September, is ceremonial and colorful. This national holiday personifies all dreams and expectations of all Uzbek people which lean on main principles friendliness, solidarity, charity, mutual respect.


Representatives of the various nations living in Uzbekistan, despite of a nationality, religion, the social status all actively celebrate a holiday in each street, the area and the people living in mahallas and in regions.
Day of teachers and educators (October, 1st)

Annually the Day of Teachers and Instructors is solemnly celebrated in Uzbekistan. The deep respect for the teacher has taken roots in our territory during old times. "Domlo", "Muallim", "Ustoz" - these words during many centuries with gratitude and respect the pupils received from the teachers not only knowledge on subject matters said, but also lessons about the valid attitude to people, love to the Native land, about high morals and spirituality.


Pupils of schools and educational institutions deeply esteem all those who have given them the first vital knowledge. This day pupils with gratitude give flowers and gifts.
On Teacher’s Day, Uzbek school children, students and all people congratulate teachers and preceptors of all educational institutions on their professional holiday. In Uzbekistan, the attitude to teachers and spiritual leaders has always been special, and today people of this profession are still immensely respected and appreciated.


For ten years it has become a wonderful tradition to celebrate October 1 in Uzbekistan as a national holiday. This is clear evidence to the high deference and recognition by our people of worthy work of teachers and tutors who, without sparing their knowledge and experience, talent and adroitness, warmth, dignity and energy, showing the best human qualities, wholeheartedly serves the cause of enlightenment. Remembering teachers, naturally, each of us, regardless of what position he occupies, recalls the best school years, blithe childhood, which left an ineffaceable mark in his memory. We show reverence to the teachers who gave us not only knowledge, but lessons of humanity.
The Uzbek people honors not only the Teacher's Day, but also many other national holidays. You have a unique opportunity to visit Uzbekistan and plunge into the life of the Uzbek people with its holidays and traditions.
