The Town Council and Mayor of Lovettsville voted on March 23rd to formally partner with “Keep Loudoun Beautiful” on April 8 th , 2017 in community litter clean-up efforts. Keep Loudoun Beautiful (KLB), a local non-profit founded in 1972, has been actively recruiting volunteers in Lovettsville for the last 4 years and has collected more than 290 bags of garbage in the greater Lovettsville area. The Town of Lovettsville was encouraged by KLB to formally designate a day to encourage citizens and residents to take part in litter collection. The recently updated Comprehensive plan identifies community goals that include protecting, conserving and restoring the natural resources of the town including promoting a healthy environment for all citizens. Residents of greater Lovettsville are cordially invited to participate in the first annual “Keep Lovettsville Beautiful Day” event hosted by the Town and KLB April 8 th , at 2pm. Volunteers will meet at the barricade at the south end of the bike trail on the Berlin Turnpike (Rt. 287) and begin there. This is near the intersection of the Berlin Turnpike and Loudoun Street. They will then move down to a second site for clean-up efforts at Church Street at the post office. Bags, vests and some gloves will be available. Parking is available at the Lovettsville Game Club, Lovettsville Elementary and Red Bud Lane. This is a family-friendly event and safety measures will be taken.
