Lakeland Highlands Middle School 2016-2017 Newsletter Edition 3 FSA is on it’s way! As the school year progresses, the LHMS students and faculty find ourselves starting to prepare for Spring State Testing. Students will participate in several state assessments, based on their course schedule. All students will take the FSA Writing, Reading, and Math Assessments. In addition, eighth grade students will participate in one day of the Statewide Science Assessment (SSA) and seventh grade students will participate in one day of the Civics End of Course (EOC) Exam. Our first Reading assessment took place on Monday, April 10th. For more information about the FSA testing dates, please visit our school website to view the LHMS Tentative Testing Schedule. Students were given their specific test locations on a label for their agendas, locations for every student will be post- ed throughout the school. It’s imperative that all students know when and where they are testing, please be sure to ask your child what day they will be taking their assessments, and what room they will be in. It’s important that on the morning of their tests students come ready, by getting good night’s rest and having a healthy breakfast. We appreciate your help in ensuring your student is on time and prepared for their assessment on their assigned testing dates. Thank you for part- nering with us as we work together to ensure all of our students are ready to achieve success on their assessments!
In preparation for the assessments all students will participate in a Reading and Math Practice Test during their Language Arts and Math classes. These practice tests were created to help students become comfortable with how to navigate the testing platform, so that they know what to expect on the day of their assess- ment.
The Practice Tests are also a great way to see what types of questions the test might have, and provides a great resource for any parent wanting to help prepare their child for the State Assessments. Should you wish to work through the practice tests with your students, or simply get a look at what the FSA testing platform looks like you can visit the link located under “Practice Tests” in the Students Tab of our school website.
