Working at Court Lodge Farm (Lettuce Co) Type of work Type of work Types of work Available Field Work - Starting from March/April we employ many overseas staff to work on growing, cultivation's and harvesting operations on the locally produced crops. Generally harvesting work is always paid on piece rate basis rather than an hourly basis. The Onion harvest involves pulling the salad onions by hand, skinning the loose leaves from the onion, then wrapping them into bunches with an elastic band. Bunches are then put into field crates (approximately 60 to 80 bunches per crate) loaded into a tractor trailer to be carted to the cold store. This role requires lifting crates. Growing and cultivation operations - this may include tasks such as planting, laying crop covers over plants, removing crop covers and weeding. These operations are paid on both hourly and piece rate basis, depending on the job. There are some opportunities for some employees to drive tractors and work the irrigation equipment but these require extra training or previous experience. If you have experience in these areas then please make this known before you arrive at the farm. There are also opportunities for minibus and coach drivers who must possess the necessary Category D on their driving licence and have the relevant CPC certification. This job attracts a higher rate of pay than some other jobs. Please let us know if you have this skill before you arrive at the farm. All work is paid in line with the National Minimum Wage (with the opportunity to earn higher rates through piece rate earnings where applicable) and wages are paid weekly direct to your bank account. If you do not have a bank account then we are happy to assist with opening a bank account (the bank may charge fees for this) Work outside takes place generally no matter what the weather brings. It is essential that you bring warm and waterproof clothing in case of bad weather. A waterproof jacket, trousers and wellington boots will be provided free of charge for outdoor work. Also, please bear in mind that the work is of a manual nature and some tasks require small amounts of lifting. Other tasks require a lot of bending, kneeling etc. Piece rates may vary, even on a daily basis, depending on the type of job, the crop and weather conditions. Work is usually available 7 days per week and you may be required to work on a shift or rota system. We work strictly to the Working Time Directive and employees are given at least 1 day in 7 off or 2 days in 14 off, with 11 hours rest between shifts. Average daily working hours are 8 hours per day. However, in low periods the hours may drop considerably and at other times, increase considerably. Hours of work are not guaranteed. Employees are requested to be flexible to work on any of our crops or operations according to the demands of the moment. Download 1.55 Mb. Do'stlaringiz bilan baham: |
