Lesson 2 My working day
Reading: My Working Day S arah wakes up at 6:30 AM every morning. She starts her day with a cup of coffee and a quick breakfast. Then, she gets dressed and leaves for work at 7:30 AM. Sarah's office is a 20-minute drive from her home. At work, Sarah has a busy schedule. She checks her emails, attends meetings, and works on various projects. Her lunch break is at 12:30 PM, and she usually brings a packed lunch. After lunch, she continues with her tasks until 5:30 PM, when her working day ends. When Sarah gets home, she likes to relax for a while, either by watching her favorite TV show or going for a short walk. She prepares dinner around 7:00 PM and enjoys a quiet evening with her family. Grammar Rules and Exercises: Pronouns Personal Pronouns: Personal pronouns take the place of specific nouns. Common personal pronouns include I, you, he, she, it, we, and they. Possessive Pronouns: Possessive pronouns show ownership or belonging. Some examples are mine, yours, his, hers, its, ours, and theirs. Demonstrative Pronouns: Demonstrative pronouns point to specific things. Common demonstrative pronouns are this, that, these, and those. Relative Pronouns: Relative pronouns introduce relative clauses in a sentence. They include who, whom, whose, which, and that. Exercise 3: Personal Pronouns Complete the following sentences with the appropriate personal pronoun. 1. ____ went to the store to buy some groceries. 2. Exercise 5: Demonstrative Pronouns Select the right demonstrative pronoun for each sentence. 1. ____ is the dress I want to buy. 2. Dialogue Role Play: Pronouns Now, let's practice using personal, possessive, demonstrative, and relative pronouns in a dialogue role play. You can work with a partner or role-play both characters yourself. Imagine a conversation between two colleagues, Sarah and John, discussing their working day. Sarah: (Start the conversation) John: (Respond) Ensure that you use the appropriate pronouns throughout the conversation. Feel free to be creative and expand on the dialogue.
