Warm Up activity

  • Teacher plays a little song (2 mins) and asks Ss to write down familiar vocabulary they have heard.

  • Ss should write the vocabulary which they have heard in the song.

  • T checks and counts them.

  • T gives points to Ss who have written more vocabulary rather than others students.(At least 3 winners)

-During the warm up activity some Ss cannot hear words properly in the played song. Additionally some of them make mistakes while writing them on their lists. While checking process students make some noise in order to check their writings with each other’s.

II. Presentation

  • Technique 1: Brainstorming

- Teacher asks students to write a work which they are able to do every day on the white board. (Only one).
- Each of the students writes one example and read it loudly.
- T checks some spelling and pronunciation of the whole class.

  • Transition

-T says “today; you are going to learn about CAN , its formulas and when do we use”

  • T writes formulas of the CAN and gives information about the theme.

  • T draws a star on the whiteboard and asks students to fill the cloud with VERBS which they can do them

  • Ss writes them turn by turn.

  • Ss ask several questions which they cannot catch in the given information.

  • Technique 2: CCQ (Concept checking questions)

  • T gives quick questions about the today’s theme.

  • Ss should answer to the questions as soon as possible.

  • T checks and gives point.

In the technique 1 student may have some problem to think quickly and they may have some mistakes while writing their sentences on the whiteboard. Yet, the T can check the Ss spelling ability. With the second technique T can check the Ss’s concept about the theme very quickly and it helps to save the time.
