Lesson plan.
Topic: Traditional costumes.
Lesson title: To improve reading in Traditional costumes using Task Based Learning.
Level of learners: Elementary.
Type of the lesson: Reading.
Materials: Handouts, laptop, book.
Time: 45 minutes.
Teacher: Nuriddinova Yulduz
Aim: To improve pupils critical thinking and reading skills on traditional costumes via task based learning.
By the end of the lesson, students will be able to
(Cognitive goal:) Pupils will learn the types of traditional costumes and what occasions those are worn.
(Performance goal:) Using the given texts, activities, pupils will practice how traditional costumes differs from county to country.
(Effective goal:) At end of the lesson they use reading strategies, learn to use new vocabulary in their speech and translate reading passages independently.
Procedure:
- Teacher greets with students, asks who is on duty today and takes his/her report about who is absent;
- Begins the lesson with warming up;
- Teacher explains the topic by using activities prepared by her which are very motivating;
- Then at the end teacher marks students took and says goodbye.
Warm-up activity.
Objective: To create language atmosphere and to lead the students to the topic they are going to discuss.
Time: 5 minutes
Materials: None
Teacher asks some questions related to the topic:

  • What is the meaning of the traditional costume?

  • What are examples of costumes?

  • How would you describe a costume?


Activity 1.
Time: 10 minutes.
Read and match.

Objective: being able to choose the match by reading.
Activity 2.
Time: 5 minutes.
Objective: To develop vocabulary skill, to be able to use words.
Read and complete.

There are six main reasons why people choose their clothes:
1. For protection. To protect themselves against the cold, people wear ponchos and __________________ hats.
2. For comfort. Many indigenous women wear ______________________ shoes for work because they’re comfortable.
