Main problems on the road

1. Distracted Driving:
Distracted driving, which includes texting, eating, or even talking on the phone, is one of the leading causes of accidents on the road. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), distracted driving caused 3,166 deaths in 2017 alone in the US. Distracted driving is one of the leading causes of road accidents. Drivers who are not paying attention to the road may not be able to process information correctly, such as traffic signals and pedestrian crossings, which can lead to a collision. Common examples of driver distractions include using mobile phones, eating or drinking, adjusting the radio, or talking to passengers.
2. Reckless Driving:
Reckless driving is another major problem on the road. It can include dangerous overtaking, speeding, ignoring traffic signals, tailgating, and more. Many drivers who engage in reckless behavior do not realize that they are putting themselves and others at risk.
3. Poor Road Conditions:
Road conditions like potholes, uneven surfaces, and poor lighting can also pose significant risks for drivers. Bad road conditions can cause car accidents, damage vehicles, and be a hazard for pedestrians.
4. Drunk Driving:
Drunk driving has been a persistent issue on the roads for years. Alcohol can significantly impair judgment and reaction time, putting everyone on the road in danger. According to the NHTSA, approximately 10,874 people died in drunk driving crashes in 2017 in the US. Drunk driving is another significant problem on the road that poses a severe danger to all road users. A driver who is under the influence of alcohol will have impaired judgment, reduced reaction times, and slower reflexes, which makes it difficult to navigate the road safely. According to WHO, drunk driving accounts for almost 30% of all road fatalities worldwide.
5. Another common problem on the road is speeding. Drivers who exceed the speed limit put themselves and others in danger. Speeding reduces the time required to react to hazards, resulting in accidents that could otherwise be avoided. The consequences of speeding are often severe and can result in fatalities.
