Abstract. The article reveals an innovative approach to the self-projection of media competence of the teacher
based on its invariants. The paper identifies and describes the invariants of such competence, reflecting the typical
ways of action of the teacher in working with professional relevant information and their corresponding groups of
knowledge and skills. The article shows us the possibilities of self-projection technology in the formation of the
media competence. There is proposed the innovative approach to self-projection of media competence using the
potential invariants, which allows you to design the vocational training and professional self-development in unified
science-based logic based on the invariants of media competence and at the same time to take into account the level
of training of the student (zone of actual and proximal development).
