Example tasks for Section B.
1. In order to investigate the relationship between mean job tenure in years among workers who have a bachelor’s degree or higher and those who do not, a random sample of 20 employees who have at least Bachelor’s degree and 25 employees without a degree were taken, with the following partial test results. Assume the population variances are equal. The test statistic is computed for (Bachelor – No Degree). Partial R output: Test, at the 1% level of significance, the claim that mean job tenure among those with higher education is greater than among those without. a. Which test is appropriate for this case? State your hypotheses. b. Provide your rejection rule. c. Provide your decision and conclusions. 2. Educational data for 45 high school students are used to predict the GPA of the students. Few rows of the data are provided in Table 2.1. GPA is the response variable. IQ, Age, and Parent Education are the explanatory variables. Here: • Obs – observation number. • GPA and IQ, Age are numeric measurements. • Parent education variable indicates the highest degree of the parents, which has three levels: High School, Bachelor’s, Master’s or above. Table 2.1 Obs GPA IQ Age Parent Education 1 3.12 111 15 Bachelor 2 2.91 107 14 High School 3 3.45 100 16 Masters or above 4 1.89 107 14 High School … … … … … 45 3.13 106 15 High School 4 a. Provide the four assumptions in detail that must be met to use Multiple Linear Regression Model. b. Table 2.2 provides a part of regression test results for predicting GPA with the following explanatory variables: IQ, Age, and Parent Education. Provide your linear fitted model. Provide your interpretations of partial slopes. c. Predict the GPA score for a student who is 20 years old, with IQ score of 110 and whose parents’ have Master’s degree. d. R squared is given as 0.9412. Compute the adjusted R Squared. e. F stat is equal to 6.15. Test for overall significance of the model. Provide your hypotheses, decision and interpretations. Use a = 0.05. f. Which numerical independent variables are significant at 10%? Download 295.73 Kb. Do'stlaringiz bilan baham: |
