INFINITIVE FORMS

In English, there are six forms of the infinitive, which correspond to the four groups of tenses, two of which are in the form of a passive voice.

The main forms of the English infinitive in Russian can correspond to verbs of both perfect and imperfect forms:
−to operate (on) - operate (Indefinite Active);
−to be operating (on) - operate (at the moment) (Continuous Active);
−to have operated (on) - operate (already) (Perfect Active);
−to have been operating (on) - (continue) to operate (Perfect Continuous
Active);
−to be operated (on) - undergo an operation (Indefinite Passive);
−to have been operated (on) - undergo an operation (already) (Perfect Passive).

3. INFINITIVE FUNCTIONS IN THE SENTENCE AND ITS TRANSFER

Since the functions of the infinitive in English and Uzbek are almost identical, then the English infinitive is usually translated into Russian by the indefinite form of the verb.

Infinitive occurs in functions:

1. 
   Subject: e.g. To breathe means to live. To breathe is to live.
   
2. 
   The semantic part of the predicate - in the presence of modal verbs or the
   

verb to be: e.g. We must improve the prognosis of patients with large burns.
We must improve the prognosis for patients with extensive burns.

3. 
   Additions: e.g. Various symbols and abbreviations are used to denote
   

missing or filled teeth, and the treatment required.

4. 
   The circumstances of the purpose and effect (unions are introduced during the transfer in order to): e.g. I do sports to keep feet. I go in for sports to be in shape.
   
5. 
   Definitions (translated by the subordinate definitive clause with modal verbs or modal words): e.g. The nurse is usually the first person to receive a patient. The first person to receive a patient is usually a nurse.
