MEDICAL TERMINOLOGY

The lexical feature of medical scientific texts is medical terminology. Medical terminology is a system that combines the terminology of a number of biomedical disciplines. In anatomical terminology, mainly words of Latin origin are used. Words of Greek origin are
terminological base for all clinical disciplines. Greek medical terms were influenced by the Latin language, which affected their transcription, the change in stresses and endings.
The Anglo-Saxon layer of medical vocabulary is small. Structurally, all terms can be classified as follows:

1. 
   Simple terms (oxygen).
   
2. 
   Compound forms, formed by compunding (longisection – uzunasiga kesish).
   
3. 
   Word combinations, components which have attributive connection
   

e.i. one of the compounds determines the other one (red blood cell).
In the modern world, science, including medicine, is developing very quickly, so dictionaries do not have time to fix the new medical terminology.
Sometimes the meaning of a new term has to be established based on the meaning of its individual components, called term elements.
A term element is any word-forming element (root, prefix, suffix), which, having a stable meaning, forms the terms of one semantic series. In most cases, a term element is a semantic support necessary for understanding and translating a term.
