The next day the astrologers, craftsman,builders and architects gathered in the Reception.
All of the Ark.The Khon greeted them and sit down on his throne honored people”, began Amir Arslankhan in his deep,tempered voice.,,I want to make my kingdom famous not only now,but forever.That’s why I want you to design a building which will be the only one in the world.It must be magic,marvelous,fantastic,gigantic.It must show strength and power.After a month many architects and builders brought some pictures of constructions.One young modest man came and gave the design of the majestic Minora.Amir asked about the reason of building a big tower.He said that it would be a symbol of hope and consolation.Amir liked his decision decision so young architect said that he needed camels’ wool,camels’ milk,hens’ eggs and grape juice.In order to make the foundation of the Minora he prepared the mixture by mixing the camels’ wool, camels’ milk hens’ egg and a great amount of grape juice.He ordered to builders to fill in the marble chinks with a mixture.
But it was very difficult to do that kind of job.
A large amount of materials were used to fill the chinks of the marble stones. Not only poor,but rich people too began to show their discontent.They were not only displeased but they began to steal the food-stuff.Some villages began to deliver fewer eggs, less wool and milk than before.
The Master told Shoh about it.And at last,nine metres diameter at the base,six meters at the summit,the foundation was ready.Then the Master disappeared.He left the town without notifying anybody.A month passed,then two, then tree, then nine.
None could find the master.The Amir was very angry.He send his people everywhere to find the young architect,but in vain.
After nine month, the Young architect himself came to the Amir’s Palace.He asked the shoh to forgive him.That he explains that his disappearance was on purpose.After they had put in the foundation,they were to leave it for a period of time. The foundation will become firm,if it was left under the sun rays,rains, snows for a period of time. The Amir understood it and allowed the master to continue the building of the tower.Day by day,year-by-year the tower began to grow to the sky.The young architect put up a minaret in the form of a circular brick tower.
Day and night the builders working diligently constructing the tower.They had great success.
When we visit the old part of the city,we notice that the Minora i Kalon is the highest structure in the old is section of Bukhara. The decoration imparts particular expressiveness to Minor Kalon.The Minora i Kalon is connected with the Mosque Masdgid i Kalon through a bridge-type passage which leads inside the Minora,where there is a spiral staircase with 104 steps rising to the rotunda.An inscription in turquoise majolica under the corner of the skylight of the Minora testifies that it was erected in 1127.Halfway up,one can read the name of Arslonkhon.The name of Bako, the Master he also been found.
Centuries have passes and Minora-i- kalon has become a symbol of the Korakhonids’ dynasty,from generation to generation.Muhammad Arslonkhon,who was one of Ilik-khon’s family,ruled from 1102 till 1130 in Bukhara.He glorified the name of Bukhara by building Minora-i-Kalon, Namozgoh and Magok-Attoron Mosques.Besides there were a lot of great philosophers, scientists,poets,writers,architectures and builders.
Geometry,mathematics,geography were led by the very famous scientists and they helped the people to become the best masters of their work.That’s why they could create such big and fantastic buildings.If you visit Bukhoro-i-Sharif,your first place to visit will be the triad of outstanding architectural monuments:the Kalon Mosque of Masdgid -i Kalon; the Shaikh Mir-i-arab Madrassah and the Minora-i-Kalon.
