Dreams Withdraw Man From His Purpose
 ...That He may withdraw man from his purpose, 
(Job 33:17 AMP). 
We think especially of King Abimelech who was 
warned that he would be a “dead man” if he slept with Abra-
ham’s wife (Gen 20:3). Laban also was warned to “speak nei-
ther good nor bad” to Jacob as he was fleeing (Gen. 31:14). We 
can so easily get off track by making plans without consulting 
the Lord. Now days it is crucial that we hear from the Lord be-
cause of terrorist threats. Since my husband and I travel over-
seas a great deal, I am always thankful for the Holy Spirit’s 
guidance and how God speaks to us in dreams to protect us.
Dreams
 
Expose Pride
 
One of the errors we may give in to is pride. The Am-
plified Bible reads:
That He may cut off pride from him (disgusting 
him with his own disappointing self-sufficiency) 
(Job 33:17AMP). 
 This means He warns us about pride. In one 
dream I had, I was sitting in a classroom and had the feel-
ing I knew nothing. I didn’t have a clue about the subject. I 
thank God for that dream. I took it as a warning to be 
aware that pride can easily overtake me. 
One time I dreamed that two weeds were starting to 
grow in our yard, two in particular. I then got some weed killer 
and sprayed them. This dream called for some self examination 
and examination of our ministry. The Lord is returning for a 
bride that is spotless and holy. Our goal in life should be to be

pleasing to Him in all respects. Yet, we are often blind to our 
own weaknesses or faults. Dreams bypass the mind and expose 
the issues of the heart. Our soul in its natural state is depraved 
and needs to be purified. Our heart is deceitful and needs to be 
exposed.
We need not be confused that God doesn’t love us or 
approve of us, but we need to continually press on to and lay 
hold of all that Christ laid hold of for us. The apostle Paul said: 
I press on, that I may lay hold of that for which Christ Jesus 
has also laid hold of me (Phil. 3:12). I lay hold of His right-
eousness, His victory, and His wisdom. His Word says that I 
am a partaker of His divine nature (II Pet. 1:4). 
When we were born again, we were born of incorrupti-
ble seed through the word of God, which lives and abides for-
ever (I Pet. 1:23). If we consider natural seed like tomatoes or 
flowers, these seeds are programmed to grow if the right condi-
tions are met. So too, we were born again of incorruptible, im-
perishable seed, which is programmed to succeed, if we feed 
our spirits on the Word of God. God’s intention is for us to suc-
ceed. We are programmed to succeed, to produce fruit, if we 
feast on the ever-living Word. He who began a good work in us 
will watch over us to complete the work in us if we constantly 
submit to Him and obey Him without hesitation. 
As we examine our dreams, we may be discouraged 
that we are doing unwholesome things in our dreams. Our heart 
is in the process of being cleaned up by the Holy Spirit. As we 
fall in love with Jesus more and more and spend more time in 
praise, those discouraging dreams will be less frequent.
Also, in our day-to-day activities, “garbage” can creep 
onto us. Even the ads on TV can pollute our minds. We need to
