FROM HISTORY OF CREATION OF THE STUDY OF LOCAL LORE MUSEUM This year 75 years are executed from the date of creation The Karakalpak republican study of local lore museum.
First steps on creation in Karakalpakstan of a museum are closely connected with happened at the end of XIX century in Central Asia, in particular Uzbekistan historical and cultural events. In 1870 in Tashkent the Turkestani department of a society of anthropologists, ethnographers and naturalists was open. Six years the first museum exhibition later has been organized. The similar exhibition has been organized and in. Turtkule where have been submitted over twenty ancient clay and metal things of domestic use found in 1876-1880 on dried up day of lake Istemes, located between the cities of Kyjat and Kyzylkala, ancient manuscripts, coins and ethnographic materials. But in connection with political events of the beginning of XX century work on creation of a museum has been temporarily suspended. In 1920 in Tashkent the Committee on museum affairs and protection of monuments of history of Republic Turkestan has been created, basic which direction of work became museum business. It has sped up process of the organization of a museum in Karakalpakstan . In 1928 the question on purpose of rose. In September " the Karakalpak ethnographic expedition " to which head A.Melkovu for realization of works on assembly of exhibits advance payment in the sum of 3747 roubles has been allocated has been organized. Members of expedition study monuments of history , are in many auls of some areas of Karakalpakstan , collect many exhibits.
Work of expedition has been maintained by intelligency of our edge which led by Karabaevym and Erbaevym send in OblONO the letter where ask to organize on the basis of the materials collected by the given expedition a museum exhibition. The similar request acts and on behalf of numerous citizens, and on May, 16, 1929 in city club Turtkulja regional specialists had been organized an exhibition. In it national clothes karakalpakov, ancient manuscripts, economic utensils, books, pictures of historical monuments, pictures have been submitted. In the organization of this exhibition active participation was accepted working in structure " Karakalpak ethnographic expedition " by the Moscow students A.N.Baskakov, A.Davletov, N.V.Torchinskaja and the first local regional specialists K.Aimbetov, the ethnographer from Tashkent A.Morozov.

On it questions of preparation of the project of a building of a new museum in Nukus, realization of his exposition and maintenance with the qualified experts were discussed among important. "Base" of the state study of local lore museum has been incorporated on May, 16, 1929. And this day when the first museum exhibition (in was open. Turtkule), is new step in a cultural-educational life of Karakalpak people which remain in history of Karakalpakstan .
