Abdulla Oripov

Abdulla Oripov was born of March 21, 1941 in the Koson district of Kashkadarya region. He's the modern and national poet of Uzbekistan. His childhood was hard and from time to time he felt poverty. The Second World War deeply influenced on the future poet. He devoted most of his poems to this theme. There were 4 daughters and 4 sons in his family. Abdulla was the eldest son of the family.

In 1950 he came to the capital and entered the Tashkent State University of the journalistics faculty. In his student years Abdulla Oripov met with the wonderful writers, such as: Erkin Vokhidov, Utkir Khoshimov, Rauf Parfi, Shukur Kholmirzaev and many others. Some year later he published his first collection of poems "Tiny star" (1960). Then, there were "Mother", "Uzbekistan", "Face to face", "My soul" and the others of his collection. Most of his poems Abdulla Oripov to the social problems and the bright prosperity of our people.

There're "Ishonch ko'priklari", "Munojat", "Hikmat sadolari", "Haj daftari" of his last collections. Some of his poems are translated into Russian, English, German, Bulgarian and the other languages.

In 1992 Abdulla Oripov wrote the poem to the State anthem of Uzbekistan. In his long literary career he worked in different publishing houses. After gaining the independence Abdulla Oripov became the laureate of "Alisher Navoiy State Prize" and "The People Poet of Uzbekistan". Nowadays, he's the Chairman of Council of the Republican Copyright.
